Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology was founded in 1967, named after the Algonquin First Nations people native to the area. The college was created by merging the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology, which began in 1957, and the Ontario Vocational Centre, established in 1965. Celebrating over 51 years as a leader in post-secondary education, Algonquin College has seen significant growth and continues to expand. Recently, all three of its campuses have undergone major expansion projects.
Algonquin College has teamed up with CDI College, a private career college in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), to provide a unique education option for international students. Starting in Mississauga in Fall 2022, CDI College will offer Algonquin College programs at its GTA campuses. Students who complete these programs will receive an Algonquin College credential. This partnership allows students to benefit from Algonquin College’s renowned practical and theoretical learning while experiencing life in Canada’s largest metropolitan area.
